Back in my day

Friday Fiction is back. It never went away, but ever since my writers' group broke for the summer, I have found it challenging to stay consistent on Fridays. I hope you enjoy a bit more of a consistent Friday blog for the next while, anyway.

One of the prompts was to write something that started with the phrase “back in my day.” Here it goes:

Back in my day, Disney Channel had obscure times on their timetable. Hannah Montana would start at 2:35pm and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody would start at 3:05pm. My sister burst out laughing when I called out Disney Channel for changing their scheduling to “normal times.” That’s So Raven would start at 2:30pm and Cory’s House would start at 3pm. I believe my exact words were: “its disgusting.”

But that’s not all. Back in my day, YouTube was somewhat of an underground phenomenon. We had our “Charlie Bit My Finger” and “The Original Numa Numa”. Now, we have Mr Beast and Logan Paul in the thumbnails of their videos, mouths agape with titles such as “I ordered a pizza and gave the delivery guy a house.” YouTube has become a career, and that’s kind of terrifying to me. That’s coming from a wannabe writer.

That’s all from me. I am going to rethink my life choices. Thank you for reading and for your time.
