Walking keeps me sane.

The weather has been nice again over the past couple of days, hasn’t it? Yesterday, I had to change my t-shirt three times due to sweat. Was that too much information? Maybe. Welcome to Friday, by the way.

Last night I was in Waterford for Slip of the Tongue. It is a poetry event I very much enjoy attending. I performed as well. I can’t tell you how it went at the time of writing as it hasn’t actually happened yet.

I was sitting around today having one of those “I can’t really do anything today because I have that thing later”- kind of thoughts. Then I said I may as well do something productive. Hence this blog. In an effort to occupy my time before I have to go to this event, I said I would write this blog and then go for a walk in the nice weather.

You know me at this stage. I love my walks. If you were at all wondering – yes, I have written poems about walking. I knew I did, at least. Finding one I hadn’t shared before was a different challenge- or so I thought. After some digging, I found a poem almost instantly: "Walk." It goes like this:

Walk

As I walk, I walk alone

It puts me in my neutral zone

As I look, I look back at home

Then look back at what has become

It has me at a perfect pace

Worth nothing and worth the world

It’s too precious and special to displace

Walking through the street, I wonder alone

And think how thankful I am to call this world home

All this talk of walking makes me want to go for a walk as soon as possible. And so, I shall. Thank you for reading today. Also, thank you for your time.
