Background Actors

Hello and welcome to the blog. It’s Friday. You know what that means. It’s time for some writing. Having previously written about my time on set as an extra, I got thinking about whether I had written a poem about being an extra. It turns out I have, and it was relatively easy to find due to the title. It goes like this.

Background Actors

Let me stand on stage, please

No, not at the front

I want to watch the show

But I don’t want to pay any fees

Let me stand there listening

And pull my actor face

For I am the background actor

And I am an absolute disgrace

For nearly 10 years, they had me

And not a foot put forward once

I always loved the craft of it all

More than swimming or going on hunts

You may have seen my fine work

Before the world exploded

You may bear witness to it again

As long as my passion isn’t eroded

You will see me in the background

Having the time of my life

It's better now because I now know

What it's like to live the high life

Having actually turned down some more extra work recently, I am already pining for whenever the next opportunity will present itself. I hope to get back on the set soon. Send your good vibes my way. Thank you for reading. Have a lovely weekend. Thank you for your time.
