Let’s try this again…

Let’s try this again, shall we? I will skip the preamble and get straight into the intro. Hello and welcome to Monday. Happy New Year. Let’s catch up.

Did you hear the rumours? It’s 2026 now. Does anybody else think that doesn’t sound like a real year? Just me? Okay then. Say what you want about all the talk around “New Year New Me” and “Fresh Start, I find the idea comforting.

It is comforting to me that this coming year is brand-new, with no mistakes. Will I make mistakes? Hell yeah. Will I make good decisions? Hell yeah. I think they call that being human. I put myself under a lot of pressure last year to try and get everything in my life sorted within the first couple of weeks of 2025. How did that go, I hear you ask? Moderate success.

We are now five days into the new year. There have already been some pushbacks. There have already been successes. I am simply going to keep going. That’s all I can do. That, and make sure I stay consistent with all the things that nourish me. Last year, I began neglecting a lot of what nourishes me, and I went with the flow a little too much. There were benefits to that, but I didn't do my best.

You may have seen on Ya Boi’s Instagram accounts that I want to show more of my work. I do. I mean, I may as well. Stay tuned for that. I’m going to stop starving myself of my creative potential.

On a more personal note, thank you to everyone. Everyone in my life who has supported me. Whether that’s creatively or in general, thank you. You are all wonderful people. I am beginning this year in the unemployment line, but I know that won't be forever. It has been a tough time trying to stay positive in finding something that suits me. I know you shouldn’t talk about your goals publicly, but that is first on my list this year (surprise, surprise).

On a more creative note, I have been noodling away almost daily, whether it’s a poem, a haiku, or ideas for bigger projects. I will be back on Friday with some writing for you to read. Until then, thank you for reading. Happy New Year again. Thank you for your time.
