The most important thing
What is the most important thing for you on a daily basis? I can’t answer that for you, but I can answer that for me. Welcome to Monday, by the way. Happy Groundhog Day, too.
Being unemployed is still a strange feeling for me. There are upsides and downsides to everyday life. The main upside is that I can do whatever I want throughout the day. The main downside is that I can do whatever I want throughout the day.
Every morning, I wake up and have to decide what the most important thing is to get done that day. If I get that done, the day is a win. If I don’t, the day is a lesser win. I try not to get wrapped up in the idea of failure. That’s not good for the ol’ noggin, especially when the unemployment anxiety starts to creep in.
One weekly task that is an absolute must for me is this blog. I made a promise to myself that I would try my best not miss my usual two blogs a week. So far, so good. We are now over a month into the year. Happy Groundhog Day, too.
My Dad asked me if I had anything going on today, like he does most days. I said, “Yeah, I have stuff to do.” This is that stuff, in addition to the other things I would like to get done. As I said, once the most important thing is done today, I will call that day a win.
This is all well and good for Mondays and Fridays. It’s the other days of the week that are less predictable for me. You know by now that Ya Boi loves his walks. That is the other absolute must for me on a daily basis. I guess we could say walks are the most important thing for me on any other day of the week.
The reason I asked at the beginning what the most important thing is for you on a daily basis is that everyone’s answer is likely to be different. That’s what makes it interesting. Many people may not understand your answer or agree with it, but that shouldn’t matter. I have written this blog today and posted it on time. That’s a win for me.
Once I finish writing today’s blog and schedule it, etc. I will move on to the next most important thing. This is where I must hold my cards close to my chest a bit. I will say that one thing that has been on my *weekly* most important things list is working on other creative projects. One project I have been sitting on for a while is about to take shape, and that’s exciting. I won’t say too much about it for now, but watch this space. The same, but also different, content coming soon.
